Web Development in Los Angeles
Custom websites and web platforms, built with the discipline of government software and designed to sell.
GoHighflier is a founder-led web development studio in Los Angeles. We design and build marketing sites, online stores, and custom web platforms for brands whose current site is slow, fragile, or a pain to update. You work directly with the person writing the code.

What we build
Most projects are a brand's main website. Some have real business logic behind them. Either way, your team has to live with it afterward.
Custom Website Development
Fast, maintainable websites built with Next.js and React when the requirements justify custom work, with a CMS your team can use without calling us.
Ecommerce Websites
Shopify and Shopify Plus stores designed around how people shop, and set up so your team can publish without a developer.
Web Platforms & Integrations
Donation flows, member areas, APIs, and third-party integrations, like the fundraising platform with tiered sponsor recognition we built for WHJESP.
Security, Speed & Maintenance
Security remediation, hardened hosting, Core Web Vitals work, and ongoing retainers so the site stays fast and safe after launch.
How a build runs
The sequence we follow, and what happens at each stage.
Architecture
We decide the stack, the data model, the integrations, and the URL structure before writing production code. Changing these later is where budgets go to die.
Build
Components built against the design system, with your team seeing working pages on a staging environment throughout, not a reveal at the end.
Quality assurance
Real devices, real browsers, real edge cases. Checkout, tax, shipping, discount codes, and every path a customer can take through the funnel.
Launch
A scheduled cutover with DNS, redirects, and analytics verified in advance, and a rollback plan we hope not to use. We're online for it.
What government software taught us about websites
Our founder works in high-level software engineering inside government systems, where everything is reviewed, everything is logged, and security isn't a phase near the end of the project.
We bring that floor to commercial web work. It shows up as real QA on real devices, redirects mapped and tested rather than assumed, credentials and access handled properly, and documentation that exists whether or not you ask for it.
Custom where it earns it, proven platforms where it doesn't
Agencies pitch fully custom builds far more often than clients need them, mostly because custom is the most profitable thing to sell. Starting from nothing means a longer timeline, a bigger budget, and a codebase that needs a developer for every small change.
We start from something proven, usually Shopify or Next.js, and write custom code only where you need it: unusual business logic, complicated content, or an integration nothing handles well. Most of our best projects are a little custom work on a solid, standard base.
Speed and search are part of the build
We agree on a performance target before the build starts, then make calls about images, scripts, and rendering against it while they're still cheap to change.
Search gets the same treatment. Page structure, metadata, structured data, and redirects are part of the build, so your new site keeps the rankings your old one earned.
Web development work we've shipped
For Tigime, a beauty and lifestyle brand incubator, we built a website from nothing and have maintained it continuously since, covering portfolio architecture and security.
For Willie Hutch Jones Educational and Sports Programs, a nonprofit serving under-served youth, we built a fundraising platform with donation flows and tiered sponsor recognition, and remediated and hardened its WordPress stack.
Areas we serve
We work with brands across Los Angeles County, including Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, Downtown LA and the Arts District, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, and Long Beach.
Being local means we're on your time zone for kickoff calls, launch days, and the occasional emergency. You don't have to be in LA to work with us, though. Some of our clients aren't.
