Shopify Developer in Los Angeles
Shopify and Shopify Plus stores that load fast, sell well, and don't need a developer for every change.
GoHighflier is a founder-led Shopify studio in Los Angeles. We build and rebuild Shopify and Shopify Plus stores, mostly for fashion, eyewear, beauty, and lifestyle brands, and we stick around after launch to keep them fast. The person who scopes your store is the person who builds it.

What we build
What brands usually hire us for on Shopify, whether it's a first build or year three of a retainer.
Shopify & Shopify Plus Builds
New stores and full rebuilds with a proper theme architecture, so your merchandising team can build landing pages and collections without filing a ticket every time.
Custom Theme Development
Custom sections, product templates, and features Shopify doesn't ship with, like the wishlist we built from scratch for 12PM Studios.
Migrations to Shopify
Moving off WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce, or an old custom build without losing your URLs, search rankings, or order history.
Speed, CRO & Ongoing Support
Core Web Vitals work, conversion testing, app clean-ups, and a monthly retainer with a team that already knows your store.
How a build runs
The sequence we follow, and what happens at each stage.
Architecture
We decide the stack, the data model, the integrations, and the URL structure before writing production code. Changing these later is where budgets go to die.
Build
Components built against the design system, with your team seeing working pages on a staging environment throughout, not a reveal at the end.
Quality assurance
Real devices, real browsers, real edge cases. Checkout, tax, shipping, discount codes, and every path a customer can take through the funnel.
Launch
A scheduled cutover with DNS, redirects, and analytics verified in advance, and a rollback plan we hope not to use. We're online for it.
Why Los Angeles brands outgrow their first Shopify store
A lot of LA brands start on Shopify, and for good reason. It's quick to launch, it holds up under traffic, and it can grow with a brand for years.
The problems show up later. A theme bought to launch quickly gets stretched past what it was built for. Apps pile up for campaigns and never leave. Every new landing page needs a developer. The store gets slower each season, and conversion quietly slides while traffic keeps climbing.
That's usually when brands find us. Shopify is still fine. The store built on top of it isn't.
What a Shopify build with us includes
We start with architecture: the theme structure, the sections your team will need, the apps that earn their place and the ones that don't, and the URL and redirect plan if you're migrating. Getting these wrong is the expensive mistake, so we settle them before any code gets written.
The build happens on a staging store your team can see throughout. Before launch we test on real devices and walk every path a customer can take, including discount codes, shipping thresholds, guest checkout, and slow connections.
We schedule launches on purpose (never on a Friday), test redirects ahead of time, and check analytics on the live store. Every build comes with a thirty-day warranty on bugs in what we shipped.
Shopify or Shopify Plus?
Plenty of brands are sold Shopify Plus before they need it. Standard Shopify handles a lot more volume than most people assume, and a well-built theme on a standard plan will outperform a badly built one on Plus.
Plus is worth it when you need something only Plus does, like deeper checkout customization, B2B and wholesale, several expansion stores, or automation across a bigger operation. We'll tell you which side of that line you're on. We build on both.
Shopify work we've shipped
For 12PM Studios, a lifestyle brand that starts with eyewear, we ran a Shopify design revamp and an ongoing custom development partnership, including a wishlist built from scratch and market-aware merchandising.
For Lorvae, a luxury eyewear brand, we run a Shopify operations retainer covering app hygiene, least-privilege access control, and encrypted backups with verified restores. It's the unglamorous work that keeps a store safe to grow on.
Areas we serve
We work with brands across Los Angeles County, including Santa Monica, Venice, Culver City, Downtown LA and the Arts District, Hollywood, West Hollywood, Pasadena, Burbank, Glendale, and Long Beach.
Being local means we're on your time zone for kickoff calls, launch days, and the occasional emergency. You don't have to be in LA to work with us, though. Some of our clients aren't.
